This is almost too sad to write about, but I do believe strongly in the protection of children. And this story, though heartbreaking, should send a clear message to all: we need to take care of our kids.
In Camden, New Jersey, a 12-year-old girl celebrated her birthday in gruesome fashion: she had her throat slashed by a knife-wielding madman. Her 6-year-old brother was killed in similar fashion, but she may still survive. I would appreciate those of you who pray to send some prayers her way.
This comes a few weeks after another grisly murder in Camden, and I apologize for the graphic nature of what I’m preparing to write. Late last month, a young mother decapitated her 2-year-old son, put his head in the fridge and then killed herself, presumably with the same knife.
I honestly don’t know what to make of these horrifying events, other than to say that they scare the hell out of me. Trust me, I’m not naive. I know there are as many good people out there as there are complete whack jobs. And I adjust myself accordingly, mind you.
It is the random and senseless nature of these heinous crimes that bothers me the most. In one case, a mother does something I consider unthinkable; in the other, a stranger unleashes his PCP and pot-fueled fury on unsuspecting children. What would possess someone to do these things, you ask? I have no idea. But I do know this:
We need to watch out for the little ones… now more than ever.

There has to be a reason why there are more vicious,insane,people in the world than ever.I think it is because there are far too many people,too much overcrowding,and too much damage being done to our planet.Could air polution have something to do with it.Toxic fumes might affect some people more than others.I really don’t know but it seems we are like lemmings running off a cliff. We need a lot of research done on this.Poor little kids.Hard to believe anyone could do that.I’m not religious but this has to make you wonder. We need to get our species under control before we destroy ourselves.
I agree completely, doglady. And I don’t know why all this is happening, but it certainly doesn’t bode well for our species, as you say. Scary times…
